Ms. Moumita Bose (Speaker) addressing participants in the Workshop on DevOps on 11th Nov, 2021
The Industry Institute Partnership Cell (IIPC) of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), B. P. Poddar Institute of Management and Technology
(BPPIMT) organized two special sessions for the third year CSE students to address the gaps in curriculum with respect to industry needs and best practices.
“Workshop on DevOps” and “Workshop on Agile Methodology” were successfully held on 11.11.2021 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on 12.11.2021 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM
respectively.
In the present scenario, DevOps and Agile Methodologies are emerging trends and accepted in an exponential order. DevOps is a merging of software development
and related IT operations. Its key challenges are shared ownership, workflow automation and rapid feedback. Its objective is to shorten the software
development life cycle and continuous delivery with high software quality.
The speaker of the DevOp session, Ms. Moumita Bose, an IT expert on Agile Methodology and DevOps, business and system analyst from TATA Consultancy Services,
introduced “DevOps” to the audience in a very comprehensible way through her excellent presentations.
The session started with the welcome speech by Dr. Ananya Kanjilal, Head of the Computer Science and Engineering department,
B. P. Poddar Institute of Management and Technology and then the speaker of the session was introduced by Mr. Partha Sarkar, Academic Relationship Manager,
TCS. IIPC members of the department, Ms. Phultuli Sarkhel and Mr. Amartya Dutta supported by Mr. Anagh Pramanik coordinated the entire session.
A total of 89 students of the department along with Mr. Sudip Kundu, corresponding faculty of the relevant course and other faculty members attended the
workshop. The session ended with a lot of good discussions.
The second day workshop was on Agile Methodology and was conducted by Mr. Himadri Debnath of Tata Consultancy Services. Agile methodology is based on
individuals and interactions over process and tools, working software over comprehensive documentation, customer collaboration over contract negotiation,
responding to change over following a plan. A lot of industries from healthcare, retail, marketing, finance, education, and many others are benefitted from
these technologies in terms of speed, reliability, security, flexibility, and in enhanced workflow systems.
The speaker of the Agile session, Mr. Himadri Debnath, a certified Agile coach of TCS explained the concept in a lucid manner via-a-vis the classical Waterfall
model. Agile is a concept and requires a change in mindset, he reiterated while discussing several success stories across various businesses adopting agile
methodology.
Ms. Himadri Debnath (Speaker) addressing participants in the Workshop on Agile on 12th Nov, 2021
IIPC member of the department, Ms. Phultuli Sarkhel supported by Mr. Anagh Pramanik coordinated the entire session and a total 85 students of the department
