Department of Electrical Engineering

Research Activities

The Department takes part in a range of activities. The Department organizes conferences, workshops and seminars in various specialized fields with participants from all over the country, and runs in-house seminars to enable knowledge sharing for the benefit of the teachers and students within the Department and other Departments as well. The student chapter of IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology) UK was convening seminars and invited lectures and participating in international competition like PATW (Presentation Award the World) Department of Electrical Engineering organized Conferences ETET in 2006, CSTS in 2012, CSPES in 2018 also Online 5 day International Faculty Development Programme ETSSSAS in 2020.

The department also undertakes technical consultancy services in the field of electrical system design for other social and industrial organization.

 

Research Group

The Research Activities in the Department of Electrical Engineering can be grouped under the following two broad domains.

Control & Signal Processing Domain:

  1. Dr. Sudipta Chakrabory has worked in the field of particle filter applications on post ejection phase of missiles. She had delivered Talks on research project in India and abroad.

  2. Dr. Nandita Sanyal has mainly worked on Bacterial foraging optimization Algorithms on Image Processing Applications.

  3. Ms. Susmita Dey is presently working in the field of image processing in the Oral Cancer Detection in IIEST Shibpur.

  4. Mr. Subhasish Das is working on different types of controllers on unmanned aerial vehicles in NIT Silchar.

Energy System Domain:

  1. Dr. Sutapa Mukherjee has been working on Estimation of Sky parameters in illumination domain and energy optimization domain.

  2. Mr. Aritra Ghosh is also currently doing his research in Power System, Scholar no: 19-3-03-130, Dept. of EE,NIT Silchar

  3. Mr. Argha Kamal Pal is currently doing his research on Studies on the effects of metal oxide nano-composites in silicon rubber o electrical and thermal stress distribution in high voltage insulators used for outdoor applications. Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT(ISM), Dhanbad, Jharkhand. with Reg Number: 16DP000115

  4. Ms. Madhumita Kundu Mandal, Ms. Anushree Ray are working in different domains of energy system, namely, Power system simulation, Power System Stability in Jadavpur University.
