Spoken Tutorials, IIT Bombay: ICT enabled MOOC under the National Mission on Education, MHRD
Spoken Tutorial project is the initiative of the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication technology
(ICT) and promoted by MHRD. Spoken Tutorials are an educational initiative of IIT Bombay and adopted by MAKAUT for all its affiliated

The free online courses are MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) which are created for enabling engineering students with different
curricular as well as beyond curricular topics and enhance their knowledge base and skill to cater to the dynamic needs of the industry.
Each course comprises of a set of video lectures followed by an online test of 1 hour duration. A student receives a certificate from
IIT Bombay on successful completion of the course (having attained > 40 %)
BPPIMT had been one of the first Institutes to adopt these tutorials in 2013. Department of CSE has been offering these courses
regularly since then as a part of their 8th semester course as prescribed by the University syllabus. Apart from that we started
introducing these as a method of evaluation for several curricular topics in other semesters like C++ and Java.
Every year BPPIMT successfully implements Spoken tutorial courses for students across all departments and all years. In 2016,
IIT Bombay had selected our Institute as one of the 5 Nodal centres in the state and we had coordinated with around 36 colleges
in our cluster to help IIT Bombay and MAKAUT conduct these courses in this region.
The nodal team at BPPIMT includes faculty coordinators from each department as well as student volunteers who help us to conduct
these courses and spread awareness. We hope to continue this collaboration and help to empower our students in the process.
