- Scope and Objective
The Pre-Matric, Post Matric and Merit cum Means based Scholarship Schemes to be awarded for studies in India in a Government or private institution, selected and notified in a transparent manner by the State Government/Union Territory Administration concerned. It will cover technical and professional courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The objective of the Schemes is to provide financial assistance to the poor and meritorious students belonging to minority communities [Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Jain and Zoroastrians (Parsis)] to enable them to complete schooling and prevent drop-out (prematric), to pursuit of higher education (postmatric) and pursue professional & technical courses (merit-cum-means). These are online Schemes and one can apply for fresh or renewal Scholarship under any of these Schemes on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) at www.scholarships.gov.in. Link to the Portal is also provided on the website of the Ministry of Minority Affairs, i.e. www.minorityaffairs.gov.in. An online undertaking has to be submitted for registration on the NSP by applicants who are above the age of 18 years and by the parents/guardian if the applicant is below the age of 18 years. - Eligibility Criteria and Distribution
Scholarship will be awarded to the students who have secured not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade in the previous final examination and the annual income of whose parents/guardians from all sources does not exceed Rs.2.50 lakh. A student residing in a particular State/UT will be entitled for scholarship under the quota of that State/UT only irrespective of his/her place of study. 30% scholarship is earmarked for girls students of each minority community in a State/UT which is transferable to male students of that community in case of non-availability of female students in that community in the concerned State/UT.

Pragati Scholarship Schemes for Girl Students
- Scope and Objective
Scheme being implemented by AICTE aimed at providing assistance for Advancement of Girls pursuing Technical Education. Education is one of the most important means of empowering women with the knowledge, skill and self-confidence necessary to participate fully in the development process. This is an attempt to give young Women the opportunity to further her education and prepare for a successful future by “Empowering Women through Technical Education”. - Eligibility Criteria
The Pragati scholarships are eligible for up to Two Girls per family. Family income should be less than Rs. 8 Lakhs per Annum. The two categories of the scholarships are:- Pragati Scholarship Scheme for Girl Students (Degree & Diploma) – AICTE
- Pragati Scholarship Scheme for Girl Students (Diploma) for Technical Education
- Amount of scholarship
Tuition Fee of Rs.30,000/- or at actual, whichever is less and Rs. 2000/- per month for 10 months as incidentals each year.
Saksham Scholarships for Specially abled Children
- Scope and Objective
Saksham is a MHRD Scheme being implemented by AICTE aimed at providing encouragement and support to specially abled children to pursue Technical Education. This is an attempt to give every young student, who is otherwise specially abled, the opportunity to study further and prepare for a successful future through technical education/knowledge. - Eligibility Criteria
The candidate should be admitted to first year of Degree/Diploma level course OR Second year of Degree/Diploma course through lateral entry in any of the AICTE approved Institutions of respective year. Specially Abled Students, having a disability of not less than 40%. Family income from all sources is not more than Rs. 8 lakh per annum during the current financial year. A valid income certificate issued by the State/UT Government needed to be enclosed. No gender related issue applicable as the scheme is for all.

PM Scholarship or Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) is a scholarship scheme that strives at promoting higher professional and technical studies for the dependent wards and widows of Central Armed Police Forces & Assam Rifles (CAPFs & AR) and State Police Personnel. Initiated in the year 2006-07, this scheme is run by the Welfare and Rehabilitation Board, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. This scheme has by far affected lakhs of students and helped many of them pursue their dream careers easily.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates should be a dependent ward/widow of deceased CAPFs & AR/ Ex-CAPFs & AR/ retired and serving CAPFs & AR/ State Police Personnel. Candidates should be pursuing professional courses. (Not applicable for lateral entry and integrated courses). The minimum education qualification to apply for these courses should be class 12/ diploma/ graduation. The candidates should have secured at least 60% marks or above in the minimum educational qualification. (For renewal in subsequent years, the Candidates need to obtain at least 50% marks in the qualifying examination). As per the latest decision made by the Government of India, the scholarship scheme will also cover the wards of State Police officials who are/were martyred during Naxal/terror attacks. A total of Rs.500 scholarships in a year will be given to the wards of State Police officials. Wards of Civilians including Para-Military Personnel are NOT ELIGIBLE.
PMSS Scholarship Amount:
The amount of scholarships was Rs.2,000/- for boys and Rs.2,250/- for the girls per month and is paid annually. This has now been increased to Rs.2,500/- per month for boys and Rs.3,000/- per month for girls w.e.f. FY 2019-20.

- Scope and Objective
With a view to assisting the meritorious students belonging to economically backward families in the State of West Bengal to pursue higher studies, the Government of West Bengal introduces the Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means Scholarship Scheme of giving scholarships at different levels of higher studies, at educational institutions based in West Bengal. The scheme benefits students studying in regular mode of Class XI and XII, and at under Graduate level in Science/Arts/Commerce, Engineering, Medical and Technical / Professional courses. Post Graduate level students pursuing Science/Arts/Commerce & amp; Technical/Management. - Eligibility Criteria and Distribution
Students should pass in the year 2021 or 2020 (unable to get admission in the year 2020 due to unavoidable reason and taking admission in the year of advertisement) with at least (a) 60% marks in aggregate in the last qualifying examination (75% for previous year passout candidates) from West Bengal Board of Secondary Education/West Bengal Council for Higher Secondary Education/Madrasa Education for Higher Secondary level or Under Graduate level Scholarship (b) 60% marks in aggregate in diploma course from Institutes approved by AICTE and affiliated to WBSCT&VE;&SD; for Under Graduate level Scholarship (in 2nd year Engineering/Technology/Pharmacy courses through Lateral Entry) or affiliated by State Medical Faculty for Under Graduate level Scholarship (in 2nd year Pharmacy course through Lateral Entry) (c) 53% marks in aggregate in Graduation (Honours Subject) from any State University for Post Graduate Level Scholarship (General Education) /55% marks in Graduate Courses from any State University or AICTE approved Institute of West Bengal for Post Graduate Level Scholarship (Engineering/Technology/Pharmacy).
The upper ceiling for family income has been fixed at Rs.2,50,000/- per annum. - Amount of Scholarship
UG: 1. 60% 2. 60% in Diploma Course from WBSCT&VE;&SD; for lateral entry scheme. PG: 55% in Graduation from any State University/AICTE approved institute institute in West Bengal will receive Rs.60,000/- anually.

Pragati Scholarship Schemes for Girl Students
- Scope and Objective
To address the growing aspiration for education in the minority communities of the state and with a view to providing them more avenues for socio-economic and educational mobility by extending financial support and encouragement to the meritorious students belonging to the minority communities, the State Government has decided to set up the “Aikyashree” – West Bengal State Scholarships for Minority Students in West Bengal to be fully funded from the State budget from the financial year 2019-20 onwards. - Types of Scholarship
Three types of scholarships will be provided under this scheme :- Pre-matric Scholarship (for meritorious students from Class-I to Class-X)
- Post-matric Scholarship (for meritorious students from Class-XI to Ph. D)
- Merit-cum-Means Scholarships (for pursuing technical & professional courses)
- Objective
The primary objective of the Pre-matric Scholarship is to encourage the minority communities to send their children to schools and to prevent drop-out. The Post-matric scholarship intends to encourage students to continue their pursuitto pursuit of other higheof higher education. The objective of Merit-cum-Means scholarship for professional and technical courses is to support the students to pursue professional / technical studies for consequently increasing their employability potential. - Eligibility Criteria
The Applicant must be a domicile of West Bengal and must be studying in a School/ Institution recognized by an educational Board/ Council/ University of the State/ Central Government. He/She Must have secured not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade in the previous final examination. The annual family income should not exceed Rs. 2 lakh. Students studying in institutes outside West Bengal will not be eligible for pre-matric or post-matric scholarship. However, the students who are residents of West Bengal but pursuing studies in the listed institution outside the state are also eligible to apply. - Amount of Scholarship
The scholarship amount will vary course to course for Aikyashree Scheme. Rs 1,100 to 11,000 per year for Pre-matric Students (Class I to X). Rs 10,200 to 16,500 per year for Post-matric students (Class XI to PhD). Rs 22,000 to 33,000 per year for Merit cum Means Scholarship (Technical and Professional course students).

Scope and Objective
Oasis scholarship portal is a online scholarship portal for all the scholarships that are available for students of SC, ST and OBC categories. Run by the Backward Classes Welfare Department, Government of West Bengal, the portal enlists both pre-matric and post-matric scholarships for the students who are residents of this state. The key objective behind introducing this Oasis scholarship portal is to create a dedicated online system for filling the application and managing scholarships offered by the government.
Eligibility Criteria
Students must be a permanent resident of West Bengal.
Post-matric scholarship for SC/ST students: The applicant should be studying at the post-secondary or post-matriculation level and belong to SC/ST category. The annual income of parents/guardians should not be more than Rs.2.5 Lakh from all sources.
Post-matric scholarship for OBC students: The applicant should be studying at the post-secondary level and belong to the OBC category. The annual income of the family/guardian from all sources should not be more than Rs.1 Lakh.
Scope and Objective
The Chief Minister of West Bengal provides scholarships every year to the students, who passed the Madhyamik Examination or Higher Secondary exam or any University examination from a poor family. This scholarship also is known as ‘Nabanna Scholarship’ for south Bengal region and ‘Uttar Kanya Scholarship’ for North Bengal region. It is provided from the West Bengal Chief Minister Relief Fund.
Eligibility Criteria
Students must be a permanent resident of West Bengal. Candidates who are studying in any institution of the State after passing out from the State Board /Council of Secondary Education or a State aided University in West Bengal. Candidates must have passed the last examination from any recognized board, council or university of West Bengal and must currently be studying in West Bengal. Students must have scored 60% marks in Madhyamik exam or 60% marks in Higher Secondary or 55% in Undergraduate course. The above mentioned marks should have been obtained through enrollment in regular basis course only. The annual family income of the applicant’s family should not exceed Rs. 1,20,000/-. Students who are enjoying any other State government or Central Government Scholarship/stipend/financial Assistance are not eligible for this Scholarship.

About The Scheme
WBFS is for the under Graduate students level AICTE approved Engineering & Technology/ Pharmacy/ Architecture programmes conducted by the self financing private Engineering and Technical Institutions of the State. The waiver is limited to the tuition fee for all the institutions concerned. All other fees except tuition fees will have to be borne by the beneficiary.
Eligibility Criteria
The candidate must be domicile of West Bengal and a Merit rank in State Level/National Level Entrance Examination. Annual family income of the candidate must not be more than Rs.2.50 lakhs. Candidates selected under Tuition Free Waiver (TFW) Scheme of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) or West Bengal Swami Vivekananda Merit-cum-Means Scholarship Scheme will not be eligible under this WBFS.
- K1: The first is an Annual incentive of Rs. 750/- to be paid annually to the girls in the age group 13 to 18 years (studying in Class VIII equivalent or above for every year that they remained in education, provided they are unmarried at the time.
- K2: The second is a One-Time Grant of Rs. 25,000/-, to be paid after a girl turns 18, provided that she was engaged in an academic or occupational pursuit and was unmarried.
