Right to Information Committee

Function of the Cell
  • Disposal of requests/appeals as expeditiously as possible according to Institute’s act and statutes
  • Making necessary changes to existing practices in relation to the maintenance, management and destruction of records
  • Enhancing the provision of training on the right to information for all
  • To receive (or reject) and inquire into a complaint from any stake holder concerned.
  • Enforcing the concerned person or department to provide oral or written evidence on oath and to produce documents in demand
  • Conference room for the committee members for discussion/hearing.
  • Supporting staffs to carry out administrative procedures.

Appellate Authority

  1. Ensure that due process of law is followed and the information which is rightfully to be disclosed are not denied on flimsy and useless ground.
  2. Consider and inquire on such request for information not responded to in due time or rejected by PIO under whatsoever ground.
  3. Direct the PIO or APIO to provide full or part of the information so decided upon or to reject the appeal.

Public Information Officer

  1. Deal with requests from persons seeking information and render reasonable assistance to the persons.
  2. Respond to information demanded within a time period of 48 hours of the receipt of the request.
  3. To scrutinize the information sought for by the applicants.
  4. To show reason for not providing with the complete documents demanded and rights of the applicant with respect to review of the decision regarding non-disclosure of part of the information.
  5. To intimate the applicant about his entitlement to make appeal to the appellate Authority within specified period.
  6. To seek services of such departments that are acquainted with the information for ensuring the delivery of complete reply to the applicant.
  7. Provide information in the form in which it is sought

Asst. Public Information Officer

  1. To receive application on behalf of the appropriate authority and acknowledge them with date on such requests.
  2. To maintain proper record of request and respective proceedings.
  3. To scrutinize Applications and find out concerned Department to whom request is to be forwarded.
  4. To forward application to the concerned Department within 48 hours.
  5. To receive appeals on behalf of appellate authorities and to submit them through P.I.O. for onward submission to Appellate Authority.
  6. To receive reply/information from concerned Department.
  7. To certify the information while providing it to the applicant.
  8. To ensure realization of requisite fee (if any) for each case.
  9. To ensure delivery of information to the applicants.
  1. The Principal as the Chairperson of the Appellate Authority.
  2. The Registrar as the Coordinator of the committee.
  3. One Senior faculty member and AsP from Electronics & Communication Engineering department as Public Information Officer.
  4. One Senior faculty member and AsP from Basic Science and Humanities department as Asst. Public Information Officer.
