Technical Forum

BPPIMT has a rich tradition to inculcate in its students an attitude of inquiry in diversified areas. Technical Forum has been formed to nurture their technological know-how. It is the right platform where students can showcase their expertise in robotics, hardware modelling, software and app design.

Function of the Cell

The Technical Forum (Abhiyantran) functions as a platform to promote technical learning, innovation, and collaborative development among students of the institute. The key functions of the forum are as follows

  • To provide a platform for students to explore and enhance their technical curiosity, enabling them to gain knowledge and satisfaction through practical learning and participation in technical activities.
  • To create a collaborative environment where students can effectively apply their acquired technical skills individually as well as in teams, taking roles as members or leaders to implement innovative ideas successfully in a cost-effective manner.
  • To encourage innovation and creativity among students by motivating them to transform their technical ideas and concepts into sustainable and practical products.
  • To promote socially responsible technological development by inspiring students to design and develop solutions that contribute to the welfare and betterment of society.
  • To facilitate knowledge sharing and skill development through workshops, seminars, competitions, and project-based learning activities.

The institute provides adequate infrastructure and technical facilities to support the activities conducted under the Technical Forum (Abhiyantran). These facilities enable the smooth organization of technical events, workshops, seminars, and student development programs.

Key Facilities
  • Auditorium Facility: A spacious auditorium with a seating capacity of approximately 600 participants, suitable for corporate presentations, technical talks, seminars, and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Audio-Visual Support: Modern audio-visual aids such as LCD projectors, Overhead Projectors (OHP), VCRs, televisions, and sound systems are available to facilitate effective presentations and technical demonstrations.
  • Networked Computer Laboratories: Well-equipped computer laboratories with high-speed internet connectivity that can support online examinations or tests for up to 300 students simultaneously.
  • Seminar Hall: A seminar hall with a seating capacity of approximately 200 participants, used for student interaction sessions, technical discussions, workshops, and result declaration events.
  • Server Control Room: A dedicated server control room equipped with adequate IT infrastructure to manage and support network operations and digital activities.
  • Power Backup Facility: 24/7 uninterrupted power backup is available to ensure smooth functioning of technical equipment and uninterrupted conduct of events and online activities.

Coordinator

The Coordinator shall be responsible for the overall functioning and effective implementation of activities conducted under the Technical Forum.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • To motivate and guide students to actively participate in various technical events, workshops, and seminars.
  • To coordinate and facilitate students’ participation in inter-institute and external technical competitions, seminars, and events.
  • To supervise, plan, and coordinate all activities organized under the Technical Forum.
  • To ensure smooth communication between faculty members and student members regarding forum activities.
  • To monitor the progress and effectiveness of events organized by the forum.
  • To encourage innovation, technical learning, and collaborative participation among students.

Faculty Members

Faculty Members associated with the Technical Forum shall support and guide students in organizing and participating in various academic and technical activities.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • To motivate and encourage students to participate in technical competitions, hackathons, and innovation-based activities.
  • To organize seminars, workshops, guest lectures, and technical sessions for enhancing students’ knowledge and technical skills.
  • To mentor student members in planning and conducting events under the Technical Forum.
  • To coordinate and assist in the execution of various activities conducted by the forum.
  • To provide academic and technical guidance for successful implementation of programs and initiatives.

Student Members

Student Members shall actively contribute to the development and functioning of the Technical Forum through participation, organization, and promotion of technical activities.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • To create awareness among fellow students regarding technical opportunities, competitions, and events.
  • To actively participate in workshops, seminars, awareness camps, competitions, and skill development training programs both inside and outside the institute.
  • To assist in organizing technical events, seminars, and workshops within the institute.
  • To promote technical culture, innovation, and collaborative learning among students.
  • To support the successful execution of activities conducted under the Technical Forum.

Google Developer Student Club (GDSC)

Google Developer Student Club (GDSC) has been initiated by Google developer technologies on Sep 26, 2020. Google Developer Student Club (GDSC) are university based community groups for students interested in Google developer technologies. This community conduct webinars, hands-on workshops, tutorials, informative talks and more to engage with the audience and grow the community at large. To connect with GDSC and help to promote the peer-to-peer learning culture.

Robotics club-DIVYANTRA

Abhiyantran – The Technical Forum of B. P. Poddar Institute of Management & Technology, Kolkata inaugurated the institute Robotics club-DIVYANTRA on 7th October, 2023 at Seminar hall. Divyantra is a platform where passionate minds converge, share ideas, and work together to turn their visions into reality. It is a space where the students nurture their creativity, cultivate technical skills, and foster a spirit of teamwork. The club organize workshops, competitions, and events that not only challenge the intellect of the young minds but also ignite the passion for robotics. This robotics club pledge to use the knowledge and skills for the betterment of humanity, to tackle challenges in healthcare, environment, and beyond.
