The library plays a key role in the academic activities of the Institute. It is conveniently located in a spacious accommodation with Open Access facility for providing support to large number of students. The library has a large collection of Books, Print Journals and Periodicals. Stock of books is regularly updated with the latest editions. The Institute has a Digital Library that enables students to access E-Resources. The Institute subscribes two categories of E-journals – Springer and J-Gate, by which various International Journals can be accessed and downloaded. In addition to automated search and issue of books and periodicals, the book bank facility is also provided to students to maintain quality learning. Multimedia facility is available to encourage the students for e-learning. The library has Springer e-books with perpetual license of more than 2000 titles available to the students through digital library to enhance the quality of learning experience. The library is also equipped with a set of National Program on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) recommended lecture videos. The library has subscription of DELNET & membership of NDL.
Function of the Cell
- To collect, organize and disseminate print and electronic information to the Faculties and the Students of the Institution.
- To enhance and support the research activity of the Institution and to act as Learning Resource Centre.
- To plan and implement routine activities of the Library.
- To work towards modernization and improvement of Library.
Facilities of the Cell
- Library lending rooms for issuing and returning of books.
- Air-conditioned Reading room with Open access facility with approximately 120 seating capacity.
- Digital library and Reference / Journal room containing 30 PCs for accessing e-resources with approximately 52 seating capacity.
- Photocopying room with photocopy facility.
- Printing and scanning facility.
- Book Bank Facility by giving 5 – 6 text books to the Students according to their curriculum for a whole academic semester.
- Apart from Book bank facility, all the students can issue another 3 books per semester.
- Computerized system for searching of the books available in the Library.
- Computerized issue/return facility with bar code scanning.
- Provision for e-learning system like – NPTEL, NDL, DELNET.
- Provision for e-journals facility like – IEEE.
Roles & Responsibilities
Coordinator:
- Plans and coordinates the Library cell’s work.
- Conducts meeting and keeps committee members fully informed.
- Prepares budget in consultation with the Librarian and other Faculty members of the committee.
- Formulate policies and procedures for efficient use of Library resources along with the Librarian and other Faculty members of the committee.
- Approve requisition for new books / journals in accordance with the requirements with the help of Librarian and other Faculty members of the committee.
- To prepare budgetary requirements
Faculty Members:
- Maintains records regarding the titles / volumes of books, E-books, E-journals, print journals available for their respective department.
- Attend the meetings of the committee.
- Coordinates with the departments regarding library books / journals requisition.
- Interact with the departmental student members for library related issues.
Student Members:
- Attend the meetings.
- Coordinates with the students regarding library.
- Inform the departmental Faculty members if any library related issue arises.
Librarian
- To maintain library discipline and promotes library usage.
- Maintains records regarding the titles / volumes of books, E-books, E-journals, print journals available
- Prepares budgetary requirements and expenditure statements / records.
- Maintains the usage registers.
- To seek feedback on Library functions from readers.
